Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026.

The Open Field ("we", "us", "the site") is a position paper published at theopenfield.org. The site is cookie-free: it sets no cookies of any kind, and it does not use third-party trackers, ad networks, or fingerprinting.

Information We Collect

  • A visit counter, with no per-visitor data. The footer shows a running count of page reads. It is served by a small Cloudflare Worker that stores a single aggregate number in Cloudflare KV, no cookie, session ID, IP address, or any other identifier is stored alongside it. The Worker cannot tell one visitor from another; it can only tell that a page was read one more time.
  • Hosting and security logs. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard technical data (such as IP address, requested URL, and timestamp) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, in the ordinary course of serving any website. We do not access, retain, or analyze this data ourselves. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
  • Fonts. Typefaces are self-hosted with the site's own files. No request for fonts is made to Google or any other third party.
  • No analytics. We do not run Google Analytics, Cloudflare Web Analytics, or any other analytics or tracking script.

Cookies

We do not set cookies, and we do not use cookies to track you, build a profile, or serve advertising. There is nothing to opt out of. The site functions fully with cookies disabled and works normally with tracker-blocking browser extensions.

Your Rights

Because we do not collect information that identifies you, we hold no personal profile to access, correct, or delete. Depending on where you live you may still have rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; if you have a question about data handling on this site, contact us using the details below and we will respond as required by applicable law. We do not sell personal information.

Links to Other Sites

This site links to external resources (for example, sources cited in the paper). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; this policy applies only to The Open Field.

Children's Privacy

The site is a general-audience publication and is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
